HERE’S TO THE MIGHTY BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS OF THE WORLD

Here’s to…..
The FTMs, experienced mums and mums breastfeeding twins
The ones who feel deflated and those who celebrate their wins
The EBFs, the mixed feeders, the ones who pump all day
The ones who give their heart and soul, and bodies, some would say

The sleepless nights, The mustard poos, the evening cluster feeding
The ones who persevere through pain, with nipples, cracked and bleeding
The mums who have their newborns, concerned about their latch
The fiddly ones who look around and constantly detach

The nipple shields, the SNS, the fear of low supply
The constant controversy round the topic of tongue tie
The yearning for the future, and for the way it was
The tears of joy, the tears of pain, and crying just because

This woman is amazing, she is strong and she has power
But sometimes she has cravings for some ‘me’ time and a shower
Advice from every corner, it’s confusing, often untrue
But still she forges forward ‘cause it’s what she wants to do

It’s not just about the goodness, although there is no doubt
It’s not about the struggle, no this ain’t what that’s about
It’s the feeling from that little person, the innocence, and that smile
The sense of love and knowingness, that makes it all worthwhile

We honour mums who find it hard to breastfeed their LO
We honour mums who did their best but had to let it go
We honour mums who seem to breastfeed without a single care
And most of all we honour breastfeeding mothers everywhere
