A topic like this one, which is meant to be an individual choice for parents, becomes a matter of public opinion and debate, one that places added pressure on parents as they navigate the uncertain world of raising a child in today’s world. Joanna Nawfal is a mother of two kids and a breastfeeding consultant who has been working with moms and babies for the past 14 years. The birth of her first son inspired her to learn more about breastfeeding and she now holds 2 degrees in breastfeeding. She also founded Sophia Maternity center that takes care of families by offering services in preparation for birth, breastfeeding, nutrition, parenting, and Prenatal fitness. Working with moms and observing the struggles they face during their breastfeeding journey, Joanna is now an advocate for breastfeeding in public. She has also organized a breastfeeding photo exhibition, “Journey of Love”, in collaboration with Lebanese photographers, to normalize breastfeeding in Lebanon.

You can reach her via Social Media, Facebook and Instagram: Sophia Maternity This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
