More about project :
United are committed to empowering women by revolutionizing breastfeeding technology. The “Ms.” in Ms. United is an acronym for Motherhood-sisterhood – a concept group the our founders and team members believe strongly in uniting We are developing U Boost – a hands-free breast pump booster to enhance milk supply with any breast pump If you are no longer breastfeeding, but want to help, you can donate a U Boost to one of our partnering non-profit community centers to help a new mothering better achieve her breastfeeding goals Donations will automatically enroll you in our newsletter! You will get access to next generation product testing requests and information first! Check out our team at: http://uboostsupply.com https://www.facebook.com/MsUnitedInc/ https://www.instagram.com/uboostsupply/ What is the problem? • Breastfeeding is challenging: It is hard to replicate the dynamic biologic processes of breastfeeding when moms are away from their babies – the interplay between momma and baby is complex with multiple modes of stimulation (suckling, compression, touch, hormonal, etc.)   • Breast pumps are amazing tools: There are a lot of different breast pump options available, but they are all rely on the same technology that primarily focuses on the suckling action of the baby   • Hands-on pumping statistically improves milk output by ~50%: Hands-on pumping is a scientifically validated method to improve milk output by hand compressing the breast while pumping. The technique has grown in popularity given the demonstrated improved milk output; however, mothers trade-off this increased milk output do to the convenience of hands-free pumping (J Perinatol. 2009 Nov;29(11):757-64)   How is our solution unique?   • U Boost is not a breast pump: U Boost is a hands-free breast pump booster that can be used alongside any standard breast pump to improve lactation and milk output by an average of ~40% (n=6)  • U Boost complements breast pump vacuum suction with compression and vibration stimulation: U Boost improves pumping output with stimulation that supplements breast pumps – specifically,      U Boost focuses compression and vibration stimulation on the breast tissue near the chest wall – this is where the mammary glands originate  • U Boost works differently for each mother: No two breasts are alike – even your own – so it’s challenging to predict individual breast responses with U Boost. We have seen improvement across a large group of 30 volunteer pumping mothers but in several different ways:  Many testers found improved milk output in the “lower producing” breast. A mother frequently has an imbalance in milk production between her two breasts- in other words, one breast produces noticeably more than the other Some mothers found equal milk improvement with both breasts  Some mothers found improved milk output in the “higher producing” breast  Some mothers found the vibration improved vacuum suction comfort and allowed them to use higher levels of suction Some mothers found reduction in clogged ducts  Some mothers found U Boost reduced pumping time • Ms. United’s mission is to revolutionize breastfeeding technology: We are invested in ongoing research and development of compression technology  A rockstar group- over 60 nursing mothers, including us- spent countless hours testing U Boost • We have tested 30 mothers spread across the US with the U Boost prototype in the past two months  • We mailed volunteers a U Boost Prototype and a small kitchen scale for preference testing. Volunteers used U Boost while pumping for several weeks, measured their pumped milk bottles with and without U Boost and completed a preference survey  • We are also conducting an IRB-approved clinical trial where we tightly control the milk measurements to prevent well-known variability (in other words, we are controlling for the fact that some moms can pump 5 oz. in the morning and only 1 oz. at night) – our first 6 participants produced an average of 38% increased milk removal when pumping with U Boost vs. pumping without U Boost   • Prior to our current U Boost prototype, we partnered with ~30 local mothers with babies ranging f…
