First-time parents, parents of newborns and parents in general often cite one person as being a pillar of wisdom and support when they need it.
Their own mother.
But rather than being supported, one single mum has instead faced cruel accusations of being abusive – from her mum .
Apparently, her crimes are breastfeeding and co-sleeping with her 11-month-old son.
Distraught by the claims, the mum aired her story on Mumsnet , and it wasn’t long before the other parents were telling her to tell her mum to “f**k off”.
“She said I need to ‘separate’ myself from him and that its ‘abusive’ to keep him relying on me.
“She was also having a go at me for breastfeeding too much as he was slow weaning, but he eats a lot now.
“When I get upset when she haves a go at me, then she calls me ‘abusive’ again for getting upset in front of the baby.
“I’m a lone parent working par-time nights from home, and me and my baby are very happy.
“I just don’t know how she can casually use such language. Its really upsetting me.”
It’s distressing to hear that any parent would face criticism like this from their own parent – but the fact this mum is raising her child alone makes it all the more cruel.
It did not take long, however, for the wrath of Mumsnet to surface.
“Tell her to f**k off and refuse to speak to her,’ was one piece of advice.
