It’s worth considering that supplements may well affect the taste of your breast milk, causing your baby to fuss or even refuse the breast. Other supplements may also have an impact on your baby’s digestive system. Dr Robyn encourages women to be aware, to be in control and to have the knowledge to watch your baby’s behaviour and consider the possibilities of what may be causing him or her to be so unsettled.
Medications that have been prescribed may be due to a particular reason, so it’s important to discuss this with your doctor or health professional.
The Thompson Method for breastfeeding by Dr Robyn Thompson is aimed at preventing sore nipples, based on her research and over 40 years experience in midwifery. In 2014, Dr Robyn was awarded a PHD where the main topic of question was “Why do so many women present with breastfeeding complications, particularly varying degrees of painful nipple trauma in the early postnatal period?”
