Brookdale Family Supports Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding protects mothers and their infants from diseases, fights cancer, prevents obesity, raises IQ, and improves the health of communities. Despite all the benefits of breastfeeding, breastfeeding rates among communities of color are significantly lower and as such, rates of illness and disease among people of color are significantly higher. On August 8, 2017, over 100 employees, our local elected officials, and representatives from the Department of Health gathered in our community garden as a show of solidarity in recognition of this disparity and in support of the current efforts to promote education and increase breastfeeding rates in this community
