RGMVP led Exclusive Breastfeeding Campaign

In Uttar Pradesh, only 25.2 % children falling below the age of 3 years are breastfed within one hour of birth and about 41.6 % children aged 6 months are exclusively breast fed (NFHS-4). Global literature reveals significant association between seasonality and exclusivity of breastfeeding among 0–5 month old children. During summer months mothers have a perception that their children might remain thirsty despite of them being breast-fed. This also gets supplemented by other liquids in addition to water. Mothers do not perceive the threat of infection for children aged less than 6 months from water borne diseases.
RGMVP started a campaign in the month of June 2017 to increase knowledge and practice of exclusive breast-feeding through SHGs platforms & address myth & misconceptions.
